'out of breath' (2025) draws on Ribeiro's personal experience of anxiety and life during lockdown to reassess the human-nature connection through video, spoken and written reflections. The 4 minute and 42-second-long film incorporates a specially commissioned music score and extracts from diary entries on panic attacks and walking. Accompanying postcards feature a poetic text on the mental 9and physical) journey that Ribeiro undergoes when dealing with her anxiety. Ribeiro invites the audience to reflect on their own experiences in natural spaces. Both film and postcards offer something calming, a mediative moment, capturing the beauty of Surrey parkland, and scenes that provide a sense of security for herself as an anxious person.
The final film will be shown on a TV screen and is accompanied by postcards that people are able to take with them and keep.
Due to the size of the file I am unable to upload the full film to my portfolio; if you would like to watch the full film it is available at this link: https://youtu.be/PRHwdl5cvbY
