The Way We Love, 2024 by Elizabeth Ellis and Grace Ribeiro
For their photographic series, they took inspiration from Gary Chapman's Relationship theory on the 5 Love Languages (1992) which depicts how individuals communicate and anticipate expression of affection. COVID put a strain on people's relationships by limiting how often they could see each other and interact; Chapman's theory allows us to explore the effect it had on relationships and how people counteracted it through the different acts.

The collaborative series was made as apart of the 1st We Create Festival within Farnham. The arts festival was put on by 2nd Year Photography, Fine Art, and Digital Art students who were split into groups to cover 6 different themes. Our theme was dialogue in which we developed @languagesoftheunseen on Instagram to explore different concepts and theories. The exhibition toys with our understanding of language and conversation and expresses the simple human need of feeling understood.
